Community Spotlight: Arch Street Center

This month I had the privilege to team up with my personal trainer to raise awareness and raise funds for Arch Street Center. This center is Lancaster, PA’s only nonprofit recreational day program for adults suffering with serious mental illness. This is a very vulnerable population and the center provides a fun and safe place for their members.

Please take a few minutes to watch the video:

We got to interview the directors and interact with the members. I tried to beat one of the guys at playing pool, but he had me licked. Then Shawn, my personal trainer, led everyone in some fun stretching exercises. We got to tour the kitchen, game room, TV room and hear about how the members are given a place to belong and find community.

Here’s an overview of what the center provides:

🔵 restaurant quality meals (including breakfast, lunch, and snacks and food to take home for dinner)

🔵 in-house activities, such as:

– card games

– pool

– arts and crafts

– movies

– puzzles

– laundry facilities

– private shower (with access to hygiene products)

– computers

🔵 off-site activities, such as:

– beach trips

– museums

– sporting events

– shopping

– amusement parks

🔵 dedicated staff that ensures a safe and welcoming, stigma-free environment

Pricing Your Home to Sell

What is the big deal about pricing your home right to sell? As a home seller, you may be thinking, “Wow, this market is great. There are so many buyers looking for homes they’ll pay anything! I’ll just mark my price up and see what offer I get.”

Unfortunately, this kind of thinking backfires. Even though buyers are looking for homes, they are pretty savvy and know what homes are selling for. Also, their real estate agent will be checking comparable homes to see what your home should be listed for and how your home compares to other homes on the market.
